School-Based Counseling and Violence Prevention
What is School-Based Counseling? This is a program that provides trauma-informed, asset-based early intervention counseling and support for school-age youth by utilizing evidence-based/informed interventions. It uses group and individual counseling to decrease symptoms related to trauma and addressing anger coping deficiencies. Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) Trauma Focused Group This intervention’s main focus is to relieve symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and general anxiety among students exposed to trauma.
